Practicing specific yoga poses can help unblock or strengthen individual chakra centers in
the body. So, too, can participating in specific art-making activities. Art-making can also be
an avenue for expressing chakra energy at a particular moment in time, leading to profound
physical, emotional and spiritual insights. No art experience is required for class participation.
The way you work with each medium and the experience you have with it are more
important than the finished product. This progressive series offers students another tool for

The attitude of gratitude can bring amazing things into our lives - most of us knew this even
before Oprah Winfrey let everyone in on "The Secret"! But how do we practice gratitude
when life's challenges keep intruding on our good intentions? One way is to make and use a
gratitude box. This workshop is an opportunity to create a place and time to show thanks on a
daily basis. Boxes and all decorative materials are included in your fee. However, feel free to
bring items that hold personal meaning to use in the making of your box. Ways to use your
box and additional box ideas will be discussed.

SAC 291-C Creating Mandalas for Insight, Healing and Self-Expression
Facilitator: Elizabeth Lewis
2.0 Hour Session
Registration: Required
Pre-requisite: None
Fee: $40.00 plus $7.00 for materials

Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means "whole world" or "sacred circle". It is often referred
to as the Circle of Life. A mandala is far more than a simple shape: it represents wholeness,
and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself, from the micro to
the macro in the world as we know it. The making of a personal mandala can act as active
meditation for the purpose of personal growth and spiritual enrichment. When we create a
mandala we make a personal symbol that reveals who we are at a particular moment in
time. This workshop is an opportunity to create a personal mandala and explore the inter-
connectedness of the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.

SAC 291-D Soul Portrait Collage
Facilitator: Elizabeth Lewis
2.5 Hour Session
Registration: Required
Pre-requisite: None
Fee: $40.00

Our Soul talks to us through the images we create and are attracted to, providing us with
guidance and self-knowledge. In this workshop participants will create a Soul Portrait Collage
using a variety of mediums including magazine images, fabric, color implements, beads, yarn
and more. Through the process of art-making itself, as well as through breath-work, meditation
and writing, the unconscious meaning of your images will be explored, opening pathways to
life energy, personality insights and inner and outer transformation.

SAC 291-E Exploring the Continual Experience of Opposites Through Mandorlas
Facilitator: Elizabeth Lewis
2.0 Hour Session
Registration: Required
Pre-requisite: None
Fee: $40.00 plus $7.00 for materials

A mandorla is an almond-shaped segment made when two mandalas - or circles - overlap. A
mandorla represents the opposites experienced when we are torn by competing demands of
the rational and intuitive mind or between what we think and feel, or any other expression of
inner conflict. Mandorlas remind us that life is a continual experience of opposites - masculine
and feminine, yin and yang, heaven and earth, light and darkness, giving and receiving.
When we encounter opposites in apparent conflict, mandorlas reveal to us how to reconcile
the opposites so that we are able to hold - to live in comfort - with both. This workshop is an
opportunity to explore a means of letting go of inner and outer conflict and embrace the
dicotomy of life.
